Patient Education

Hypertension

Hypertension is a 60-minute class taught in the Patient Education Center. After completing this class, you should be able to do the following:

  • Understand the importance of managing hypertension.
  • Identify lifestyle modifications to manage hypertension.
  • Learn the definition of hypertension and factors that influence it.
  • Understand the role of medications in controlling hypertension.
  • Understand the importance of monitoring blood pressure on a regular basis.
  • Develop a lifestyle plan to assist in the management of hypertension.
  • Identify when to contact a health care provider.

This is a single-session class. It includes classroom instruction, class discussion and an opportunity to ask questions. You will receive a packet containing a summary of class content and other related materials for future reference.

Register by calling (507) 284-8140 or by making an appointment at the Patient Education Center reception desk. Programs are offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and can be scheduled to fit with your other clinic appointments.
