Patient Education

Classes

Patient Education Specialists teach classes in the Barbara Woodward Lips Patient Education Center to help patients actively participate in their care. A variety of classes are offered (see bulleted list below).

To learn more about classes or to register for them, call 507-284-8140 or come to the center in the subway level of the Siebens Building. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Also offered in the center:

Video on Demand — Viewing of over 200 approved patient education videos with a variety of topics — daily during library hours.

Additional patient education outside the Barbara Woodward Lips Patient Education Center:

  • Taking Charge of Your Osteoarthritis: Independent study, daily during clinic hours at Mayo E10 and E15 lobbies.
  • Keeping Your Balance: Diagnosing and Treating Your Dizziness Problem: Independent study, daily during clinic hours at Mayo W5 and Eisenberg 2 Vestibular Lab lobbies.
  • Center for Tobacco-Free Living on Gonda 18 gives individuals a chance to talk with a specialist or explore the displays that cover topics such as the different factors that motivate people to start or stop smoking.
  • The Musculoskeletal Center on Gonda 14 and 15 provides patient education through animated vikuity screens, joint models, a surgical equipment display, animated joint function on touch screen monitors and printed resources about joint disease, treatment and self-care. There is a multimedia classroom for pre-operative surgical classes.
