Classes

Patient Education Specialists teach classes in the Patient Education Center to help patients actively participate in their care. A variety of classes are offered (see bulleted list below).

To learn more about classes or to register for them, call (507) 284-8140 or come to the Center in the subway level of the Siebens Building. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Care of the Back: 60 minutes
• Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy: 60 minutes
• Fibromyalgia: 60 minutes
• Healthy Sleep: 60 minutes
• How to Age Well - Adults: 60 minutes
• How to Measure Your Blood Pressure: 45 minutes
• Hypertension: 60 minutes
• Introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong: 60 minutes
• Macular Degeneration: 60 minutes
• Managing Your Weight: 60 minutes
• Relaxation Techniques: 60 minutes
• Stress Management: 60 minutes
• Preparing for Surgery: Adults: 45 minutes, Monday - Friday, at 10 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m.
• Preparing for Surgery A Program for Children and Teenagers: 40 minutes, daily between noon and 4:30 p.m., as needed

Video on Demand — Viewing of over 200 approved patient education videos with a variety of topics — daily during library hours.

Additional Patient Education Programs Outside the center

• Taking Charge of Your Osteoarthritis: Independent study, daily during clinic hours at Mayo E10 and E15 lobbies.
• Keeping Your Balance: Diagnosing and Treating Your Dizziness Problem: Independent study, daily during clinic hours at Mayo W5 and Eisenberg 2 Vestibular Lab lobbies.
