Breast Health Awareness

Breast Health Awareness is a 45-minute class offered in the Patient Education Center. After completing this class, you should be able to do the following

  • State your risk of acquiring breast cancer.
  • State breast cancer screening recommendations.
  • State the risks, benefits, and limitations of breast self-examination, physical (clinical) examination and mammography.
  • Describe changes in the breast that could indicate cancer.
  • Verbalize when to notify your physician.
  • Demonstrate the proper technique for breast self-examination.

This is a single-session class. It includes classroom instruction, class discussion, demonstration and if you desire practice of breast self-examination techniques using a model with an opportunity to ask questions. You will receive a packet containing a summary of class content and other related materials for future reference.

This program is offered Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the Breast Clinic, Gonda Building, Second Floor. Please wait in the lobby for the instructor to announce the class.
