Mayo support groups in Florida

Sharing your story or expressing your concerns can help to make a difference — for you and for those who are fighting the same disease.

The support groups at Mayo Clinic's campus in Florida welcome survivors and their caregivers for a time of sharing and encouragement. The meetings are free and open to the public.

The following details include meeting times and contact information for each group.

Alzheimer's and related dementia education series and caregiver support group

This is a free support group for those who provide care for a loved one with dementia. The meetings focus on Alzheimer's disease and the challenges facing caregivers.

Amyloidosis support group

This is a free support group for amyloidosis patients, their families and caregivers. The meetings are an open forum for discussing topics related to amyloidosis, such as disease education, treatments (including transplantation) and other topics of mutual interest. An amyloid specialist physician is available to teach attendees as we support and empower our patients and caregivers.

This support group will meet about twice a year on a Saturday on the Mayo Clinic campus. Dates will be announced several months ahead of time.

Bariatric surgery support group

This group is open to Mayo Clinic patients and employees who've had bariatric surgery at Mayo Clinic. Groups are facilitated by a clinical psychologist and a registered dietitian. Meetings consist of a short presentation by the facilitator followed by open discussion.

  • 5 to 6 p.m. — for those more than one year since surgery

Esophageal cancer support group

This is a free support group to offer personal support for patients facing surgery and adapting after surgery. The meetings are an open forum for discussing topics of mutual interest. Spouses and friends welcome.

Heart transplant/VAD support group

This is a free support group for heart transplant and ventricular assist device (VAD) patients and caregivers. The meetings are an open forum for discussing topics related to VAD supportive treatment, transplantation and recovery.

Kidney cancer patient support group

The Judy Nicholson Foundation for kidney cancer research is a Jacksonville-based not-for-profit organization that provides support to Mayo Clinic patients affected by kidney cancer and their families. Lung transplant support group

This is a free support group for lung transplant patients and their caregivers. The meetings are an open forum for discussing topics related to transplantation and recovery.

Multiple myeloma support group

Our mission is to share knowledge and to provide an environment of hope for those facing the challenges of multiple myeloma. We focus on encouraging one another to continue to embrace the positive moments and joyous aspects of life, and to not forget that humor can be a respite and a true health enhancer.

Parkinson's disease and related diseases education series support group

The goal of this education series is to provide a source of information and offer mutual support to those whose lives are affected by Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. The classes are free and open to the public. Advance registration is not required.
