Mayo One — How to request service
Local law enforcement officials, firefighters, first responders, emergency medical providers and health care professionals can call Mayo Emergency Communications Center at 800-237-6822 (toll-free in the U.S.) or 507-255-2808 to request a critical care transport from the scene of an injury or between health care facilities. The emergency communications specialists follow specific protocols regarding when to send an emergency medical helicopter.
The Mayo One service has saved thousands of lives since it began service in 1984, thanks to the quick response time, rapid transport and available critical care. Helicopter transport of patients injured in motor vehicle crashes captures headlines, but most Mayo One transports involve moving patients from rural hospitals to regional medical centers for high-level medical care. Mayo One transports patients to any medical center. Trauma or crash-scene patients are transported to the nearest appropriate facility.
