Ovarian Cancer

Treatment in Florida

Mayo Clinic in Florida offers all the treatment options described in these pages. Our gynecologic oncologists offer comprehensive services and specialize in complex cancers requiring radical pelvic surgery or reconstructive procedures. Patients who require hospitalization are admitted to Mayo Clinic hospital, a 214-bed hospital on the Florida campus.

Treatment Team

Women who have ovarian cancer are evaluated and treated by specialists from Medical and Surgical Gynecology, Hematology/Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology and Radiology. The patient's care team includes a gynecologic oncologist and physicians specializing in chemotherapy, radiation therapy and pathology, as well as nurses and research coordinators. The team manages the patient's care jointly. Every Wednesday morning, physicians and their staffs meet to discuss patients' treatment, clinical trials, new developments and research aspects of gynecologic oncology. The gynecologist oncologist and radiation oncologist together see each patient to do a physical exam and discuss treatment options.
