Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Minnesota

Overview

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, traumatic injuries, and developmental or genetic deformities of the face, mouth, dentition, jaws and neck. Functional, pathologic and cosmetic problems are managed by these physicians.

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at Mayo Clinic is part of the Department of Surgery. The diagnosis and consultative practice is located in the Mayo Building with outpatient surgery performed in the Outpatient Procedure Center in the Gonda Building. Inpatient surgery is performed at Saint Marys Hospital and Rochester Methodist Hospital, both part of Mayo Clinic.

There are five surgeons on the staff in Rochester, making this one of the largest groups of academic oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States. OMS surgeons perform more than 15,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries and procedures each year. The surgeons work closely with one another and with other specialists at Mayo to provide comprehensive care to patients.
