Outpatient Referrals

Mayo Clinic Oncology is happy to discuss possible referrals and provide consultation to physician colleagues outside of Mayo Clinic. The Department of Oncology Appointment Office is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time.

Referring Physicians Service: 1-800-533-1564 (toll free)

Physicians representing all medical and surgical subspecialties are available for telephone consultation or referral after-hours through the Referring Physicians Service. Representatives are available to address any questions and concerns you may have about Mayo services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Mayo Clinic Operator: 507-284-2511

The Mayo Clinic operator is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time. The operator can contact the staff physician on-call or any other specialty that the referring physician needs. In emergency situations during off-hours, the clinic operator will assist you in handling the request.

Urgent/Emergency Transfers: 1-800-237-6822 (toll free)

Urgent/Emergency Transfers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The direct line to Mayo Emergency Communications Center can connect the referring physician to a Mayo Emergency/Trauma Unit staff physician and can dispatch Gold Cross (ground ambulance), Mayo One (helicopter ambulance), or Mayo MedAir (fixed-wing air ambulance) as needed.
