Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma

Research

The principal goal of lymphoma research at Mayo is to develop novel biologic therapies for non-Hodgkin lymphoma. To achieve this goal, Mayo researchers are identifying promising target molecules that are overexpressed in lymphoma cells and developing methods to inhibit the pathways they support. Additionally, they are exploring methods to activate and augment the lymphoma-specific host immune response. These strategies are being tested in preclinical models and then being used clinically in early phase clinical trials. Various correlative laboratory studies are being done in conjunction with these studies to determine the biologic effect of these therapies on the malignant cells and the regional immune cells. A further area of research is epidemiologic studies that define patients' genetic factors that may predispose them to developing lymphoma.
