ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic ranked highly among Midwest-based providers in U.S. News & World Report's 2012-13 Best Children's Hospitals rankings. The rankings feature 50 hospitals. Mayo Clinic was the only Minnesota hospital to rank in all 10 pediatric specialties: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology.
"Our employees work diligently every day to make each patient's experience the best it can be, and that's reflected in the fact that we consistently rank highly in measures such as these that patients rely on to make decisions about health care," says Ann Reed, M.D., vice chair of the Mayo Clinic Children's Center at Mayo Clinic.
In addition to rankings, Best Children's Hospitals provides quality-related information for families of sick children, including survival rates, adequacy of nurse staffing, and procedure volume.
