Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine to Host Concussion Summit

National, international experts to develop action plan on concussion

ROCHESTER, Minn. — On Oct. 19–20, 2010, Mayo Clinic's Sports Medicine Center will host "Ice Hockey Summit: Action on Concussion." The summit will bring together top scientists, trainers, coaches, officials and manufacturers from across the United States, Canada and Europe to discuss concussion-related issues, including the science of concussions, impact on children, and sporting world response. While the summit will focus on ice hockey, concussion-related topics will apply to all sports.

WHO: Mayo Clinic, with support in part from the Hockey Equipment Certification Council, International Ice Hockey Federation, Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation, USA Hockey, Team Wendy, and the Johannson-Gund endowment.

WHAT: Mayo Clinic's Sports Medicine Center will host "Ice Hockey Summit: Action on Concussion."

At the conclusion of the summit, participants will develop an "Action Plan: Integrating Action Items into the Strategic Plan" and a strategy to share the plan with the hockey community.
