ROCHESTER, Minn. — On Saturday, June 12, Charter House, an affiliate of Mayo Clinic, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with its second annual 5K at Silver Lake's east pavilion. This noncompetitive walk-run event is open to everyone and will encourage fun, family, community and social interaction.
"Movin' to the Music" will feature fun live music along the course from three local music groups, Sweetie N Me, Brother Music, Sister Rhythm and Jim Postier and Family. The Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale also will be performing at the finish line. Fun facts about Charter House and its history will be placed along the trail.
"Our main purpose for this event is to celebrate Charter House's 25th anniversary while supporting the Rochester Symphony Orchestra," says Trystan Hansen, fitness coordinator at Charter House. "We want to promote fun, fitness and wellness for all."
Participants can walk the entire route, a few steps or volunteer their time and support. Walkers, wheelchairs, canes, scooters, dogs and strollers are all welcome. Those not interested in participating in the 5K, can show their support by purchasing tickets for a dollar to enter in one of the 10 raffle baskets at Charter House until or on the day of the event or at Silver Lake.
Those who make a $25 dollar donation to the Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale will receive t-shirts. Check-in and day-of registration starts at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning at 9:30 a.m. Free food and refreshments will follow during a post-walk celebration, including the announcement of raffle winners.
To register, call 507-266-7846 or visiting Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale.
