Street Construction Around Mayo Clinic in Rochester

Second Street Southwest under construction April 5-Oct. 15

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Second Street Southwest, the road that bisects the downtown portion of Mayo Clinic's Rochester campus, will be under construction for a city of Rochester project from Monday, April 5, through Friday, Oct. 15. The construction zone extends from First Avenue Southwest westward to Sixth Avenue Southwest. Access to Saint Marys Hospital is unaffected.

During construction, one lane of Second Street Southwest will be open each way from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., all lanes will be closed. Those traveling on Second Street Southwest should expect significant delays.

Reaching Mayo Clinic by car

Approach Mayo Clinic via Civic Center Drive Northwest:

  • From U.S. 52, take Exit 56 (Civic Center Drive Northwest).
  • From U.S. 63 north, turn right onto Civic Center Drive Northwest
  • From U.S. 63 south, turn left onto Civic Center Drive Northwest

All Mayo Clinic patient/visitor parking lots will remain open at full capacity. Some city of Rochester metered parking spaces will be removed from service.

Reaching Mayo Clinic by hotel shuttle

  • All hotel shuttles will continue to pick up/drop off at the west entrance of the Gonda Building.

Reaching Mayo Clinic by transit bus

  • Rochester City Lines bus service will continue; however, from Aug. 14 to Oct. 15, all transit bus stops will relocate onto Third Avenue Southwest between Second Street Southwest and Fourth Street Southwest.
