Friday, December 04, 2009

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Oxford University Press (OUP) to jointly publish medical reference books and textbooks authored by Mayo Clinic physicians and researchers.

"Mayo Clinic is pleased to work with Oxford University Press, the oldest and largest university press in the world. This publishing collaboration will enhance Mayo academic publishing for healthcare professionals throughout the world," says Joseph Murphy, M.D., FRCPI, a Mayo Clinic cardiologist and director of Mayo Clinic Scientific Press.

Mayo Clinic is the largest integrated, not-for-profit group practice in the world, and OUP is the largest university press in the world. For more than 100 years, millions of people from all walks of life have found answers at Mayo Clinic, where more than 3,700 physicians and scientists and 50,100 allied health staff work at Mayo's sites in Minnesota, Florida and Arizona.

"I am excited to publish the work and knowledge Mayo Clinic physicians and scientists have to offer other doctors, patients, and members of the scientific community," says Catherine Barnes, vice president and publisher of Medicine for OUP, Inc.

Mayo Clinic and Oxford University Press share values of excellence in education and research. This agreement helps Mayo Clinic share its expertise in medical education with medical professionals around the world through OUP's excellence in medical publishing.
