Mayo Clinic to Offer Influenza Vaccine Allergy Clinic

Friday, October 02, 2009

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic will offer an influenza vaccine allergy clinic beginning Monday, Oct. 5. Children and adults who have a history of or concern about an allergic reaction to the influenza vaccine and are eligible to receive the influenza vaccine based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations, are eligible for the clinic.

"We understand there is a great deal of concern about both the seasonal and H1N1 influenza vaccines, especially for those with allergies," says Matthew Rank, M.D., Mayo Clinic Division of Allergic Diseases. "Mayo Clinic will offer an influenza vaccine allergy clinic to screen those with a history of vaccine allergies or other complicating factors. We encourage people with concerns to schedule an appointment."

Patients who have a concern about influenza vaccine allergy and would like to be evaluated should call 507-284-9989 to schedule an appointment.
