ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic's Women's Cancer Program will host its annual educational conference, Women's Cancers 2009: Merging Science and Care, on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009.
This event offers patients, their families and the public the latest information on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of womens cancers. Sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in Phillips Hall, Siebens Building, 200 Second Ave. S.W., and will focus on current topics in cancer care, promising research and ways to manage cancer and its effects.
Speakers include Mayo Clinic Cancer Center physicians, researchers and wellness experts who will discuss:
At lunch, attendees can participate in tours or moderated discussions on complementary and integrative medicine, including acupuncture, yoga, and music therapy.
"Inspiration from our speakers, advocates, and the communal energy that arises from all attendees creates a wonderful blend of information and encouragement for participants," says Lynn Hartmann, M.D., Mayo Clinic medical oncologist and principal investigator on the clinic's recently-awarded ovarian specialized program of research excellence (SPORE) grant. "People always say that they come to get their batteries charged. I know that happens for me."
