ROCHESTER, Minn. — In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine presents Darnell Davis & The Remnant.
WHAT: The concert will include songs ranging from inspirational spirituals to contemporary gospel.
WHEN: Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Autumn Ridge Church, 3611 Salem Road S.W., Rochester
Free bus transportation will be provided from these locations:
6:30 p.m. - Rochester Community Baptist Church, 1048 6th Ave. S.E. 6:40 p.m. - Boys and Girls Club, 1026 E. Center St. 6:50 p.m. - Mayo Building, 2nd St. S.W. (Second Street entrance)
7 p.m. - Saint Marys Hospital, 1216 2nd St. S.W. (Second Street entrance)
The bus will arrive at Autumn Ridge Church at 7:20 p.m. and will depart at 8:50 p.m. to return to the same locations.
WHO: Founded in 2004 and directed by F. Darnell Davis, the community gospel ensemble has a musical style that extends across traditional, contemporary and urban landscapes. Darnell Davis & The Remnant is made up of seasoned professionals from the gospel industry. Previously the group was nominated for a Grammy. Darnell Davis & the Remant's latest recording is "No Compromise."
The Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program provides weekly opportunities for patients, visitors, staff and the Rochester community to experience free musical performances by talented artists. Sponsored by Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine, the program is generously funded by Rosemary Willson in memory of her late husband, Meredith Willson, who wrote the Broadway musical "The Music Man."
