ROCHESTER, Minn. — Currently in its 10th year, the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program brings live music performances to Mayo Clinic for the enjoyment of patients, staff and the Rochester community. Concerts in March will be held on Mondays from 12:10 to 1 p.m. across the Mayo Clinic campus, unless otherwise noted. The March schedule includes:
March 3: Classic Brass will perform in Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium, subway level, Charlton Building, Rochester Methodist Hospital, 10 Third Ave. N.W.
The group includes Ellington Bandel, horn; Eric Straubmuller, tuba; Steve Williams, trombone; Greg Zent, trumpet; and Warren Bandel, trumpet. A Rochester-based group, Classic Brass performs across southeastern Minnesota, showcasing Broadway tunes, jazz standards and classical favorites.
March 10: Trio Callisto will perform in Nathan Landow Atrium, subway level, Gonda Building, 100 Third Ave. S.W.
Founded in 2005, Trio Callisto includes Linda Chatterton, flute; Sally Gibson Dorer, cello; and Min Kim, harp. The group is known for its performances on Minnesota Public Radio. The musicians' repertoire includes works ranging from 17th century French composer Marin Marais to contemporary American composer Adrienne Albert. Group members also present educational programs, music residencies, and community musical events. They perform individually with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Opera Orchestra.
March 17: Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester will give a special performance at 7:30 p.m. in Saint Marys Hospital Chapel, on the first floor of the Domitilla Building, 1216 Second Street S.W.
Choral Arts Ensemble and a professional chamber orchestra will present the choruses of parts II and III of George Frideric Handel's beloved masterpiece, "Messiah." These two parts make up the Lenten and Easter portions of the piece. Choral Arts Ensemble singers include community members from various professions. Michael Culloton directs the ensemble.
March 24: John Paulson Jazz Quartet will perform in Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium, subway level, Charlton Building, Rochester Methodist Hospital, 10 Third Ave. N.W.
The jazz quartet has performed throughout the Midwest for more than 20 years. Members are John Paulson, saxophones and flute; Larry Price, piano; Eric Graham, bass; and Rich MacDonald, drums. The group has been featured on Minnesota Public Radio's "Morning Show." They perform swing music, bossa novas and ballads. All four performers also teach music at area colleges.
March 31: Cam Waters will perform in Hage Atrium, subway level, Siebens Medical Education Building, 100 Second Ave. S.W.
Originally from Iowa, Waters recently relocated to Rochester with his wife, Tracy. His understated vocals are complemented by his creative talents on fingerstyle and slide guitar. His most recent recording is "Central Standard."
Sponsored by Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine, the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program is coordinated by Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester. The series is generously funded by Rosemary Willson in memory of her late husband, Meredith Willson, who wrote the Broadway musical "The Music Man."
