PHOENIX — Mayo Clinic will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 25, for a 208-room Marriott Residence Inn that will be housed on the Phoenix campus of Mayo Clinic.
Construction of the hotel follows a Mayo Clinic tradition of having a Marriott hotel on each of its campuses for the convenience of patients. The Scottsdale campus of Mayo Clinic, at 134th Street and Shea Boulevard, houses a Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., is also the site of a Courtyard by Marriott. The Marriott Rochester at Mayo Clinic is located in downtown Rochester, Minn. Locating the Residence Inn on the Phoenix campus, 5777 E. Mayo Blvd., will provide convenience for patients who access the services of Mayo Clinic Hospital and the Mayo Clinic Specialty Building.
The new Residence Inn will be developed and owned by the Robert Finvarb Group, and Marriott International will manage the property, which will be located on the southeast corner of 56th Street and Mayo Boulevard in northeast Phoenix.
Participants in the groundbreaking event, which will be at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, on the northeast side of the Phoenix campus, will include representatives of the Finvarb Group and Marriott, as well as Mayo Clinic personnel and the city of Phoenix. Completion of the hotel is expected to be in winter 2008.
