Statement on Dr. Chester Mayo

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The staff of Mayo Clinic were deeply saddened to hear the news of a tragic plane accident in Faribault, Minn., involving Chester Mayo M.D., of Aberdeen, S.D., his son Chester Jr., and two other passengers.

Dr. Chester Wilson Plank Mayo was born in Rochester, Minn., on Oct. 18, 1956, to Dr. Joseph Mayo II and Joanne Mayo. He is a descendant of grandparents Dr. Charles (Chuck) and Alice Mayo, and great-grandparents Dr. Charles Horace and Edith Graham Mayo.

Dr. Chester Mayo attended medical school at the University of Minnesota and completed his orthopedic residency at Mayo Clinic, June 1986-June 1991. He practiced medicine in Aberdeen, S.D.

Mayo Clinic extends condolences to all the Mayo family and to the families of the other passengers.
