ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic Cancer Center invites you to include the following educational programs, events and support groups on your community calendars. These activities are designed for patients who have cancer, their family members and friends, and supporters of cancer care and research. No advance registration is necessary, unless noted. All activities are on the Mayo Clinic campus unless otherwise noted.

CHEMOTHERAPY

What You Need to Know about Chemotherapy
Nurse educators provide information about chemotherapy side effects and resources for patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Date/Time: Tuesdays – 3 to 4 p.m.; Thursdays – 1 to 2 p.m.

CLINICAL TRIALS INFORMATION

Let's Talk About Clinical Research
A 30-minute question-and-answer session for individuals considering clinical trial participation. Family members and the public are welcome to attend.

Time: 8:30 to 9 a.m.

EXPERT LECTURES

Meet the Expert Lecture Series
This interactive series allows Mayo Clinic patients and staff to meet experts within their realm of care.

NUTRITION

Nutrition During and After Cancer Treatment
Registered dietitians will explain and answer questions about poor appetite, weight loss, nausea and related concerns.

Time: 10:15 to 11 a.m.

Questions about Nutrition
During this drop-in session, participants will have the opportunity to ask a registered dietitian specific nutrition questions.

Date: Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 10:15 to 11 a.m.

SUPPORT

Breast Cancer Support Group
Women with breast cancer meet to share their experiences and emotions.

Date: Wednesday, Dec. 5
Time: 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Brighter Tomorrows
This support group offers a meeting place for parents of children with cancer to gather, share experiences and gain strength from one another. Includes a light meal and organized children's activities. Contact Liz Canan at (507) 287-9805 for more information.

Cancer Caregivers Conversation
Friends and families caring for patients with cancer are encouraged to attend this support group.

Compassionate Friends
This self-help organization offers friendship and understanding to bereaved parents and siblings. Contact Warren Anderson at (507) 255-4042 for more information.

Financial Questions
A social worker is available to answer your questions regarding financial assistance, disability, prescription drug insurance, and related concerns.

Multiple Myeloma Sharing Sessions
Patients who have multiple myeloma and their families are encouraged to attend this informal support group. Contact Eve Friedli at (507) 259-3979 for more information.

Prostate Cancer Support Group
Patients who have prostate cancer and their families are invited to this support group, which includes informal discussion and speakers. Contact Dolores Moore at (507) 284-2691 for more information.

Providing Spiritual Support
A chaplain is available to listen to patients' and caregivers' concerns, offer emotional support and assist with spiritual needs.

WELLNESS AND RELAXATION

Creative Renewal: Workshops for Wellness
These interactive workshops provide participants with unique outlets for expression in a reflective, supportive environment that fosters learning. Workshops are held Thursdays, and topics vary.
