Oct. 11 Public Forum on Stem Cell Research

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Mayo Clinic Program in Professionalism and Bioethics, the University of Minnesota's Center for Bioethics, and the Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment and the Life Sciences, will host a public forum on stem cell research at 7 p.m., Oct. 11, with Zach W. Hall, Ph.D., founding president, California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (2005-07).

The forum will begin with a presentation by Dr. Hall, which will be followed by a panel and public discussion on stem cell research. WHO: Panelists include: Zach W. Hall, Ph.D., founding president, California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (2005-07); Tina Liebling, J.D., Minnesota State Representative, House District 30A (Rochester) and assistant majority leader; Judith Ramaley, Ph.D., president and professor of biology, Winona State University; Pamela Hoopes, J.D., legal director, Minnesota Disability Law Center; and Barbara A Koenig, Ph.D., co-director, Mayo Clinic Program in Professionalism and Bioethics.

THIS EVENT IS SPONSORED BY: Mayo Clinic Program in Professionalism and Bioethics, University of Minnesota Center for Bioethics, University of Minnesota Consortium on Law and Values.

Dr. Hall's visit is part of the Oscar M. Ruebhausen Visiting Professorship, annually funded by the Greenwall Foundation in New York City to one of the nation's academic bioethics centers. The Department of Medicine Program in Professionalism and Bioethics, the University of Minnesota Center for Bioethics, and the University of Minnesota Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment and Life Science are joint recipients of this award.
