SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Mayo Clinic is honored to be recognized by Fortune magazine for the second consecutive year as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For® in America. Fortune ranked Mayo Clinic 26th among large employers and 81st on its overall list. The Best Companies list will be featured in the Jan. 24, 2005, edition of Fortune and will be available on newsstands on Jan. 17.

"We are proud to receive this award for the second year in a row. It is a tribute to the dedication of our entire medical, nursing and allied health staff,"says Victor F. Trastek, M.D., chair, Board of Governors, Mayo Clinic. "We are dedicated to providing the highest quality care to our patients." In a memo to employees, Dr. Trastek also noted, "All of us can celebrate in this recognition and in the fact that Mayo Clinic has an established reputation for world-class care in an environment that places the needs of the patient above all else."

The listing is based on several factors, including a random survey of employees that inquires about issues such as trust in management, pride in work and company, culture and communication. All three Mayo practices participated in the review and share in this recognition by Fortune.
