ROCHESTER, Minn. — Three Harmony for Mayo concerts will be held in December on Mondays from 12:10 to 1 p.m. at different locations around the Mayo Clinic campus. All Harmony for Mayo concerts are free and open to the public.

Dec. 5: Amwaaj, an Arabic ensemble, will perform traditional Middle Eastern dance and music in Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium, subway level, Rochester Methodist Hospital, Charlton Building, 10 Third Ave. N.W.

The group includes Salah Fattah, originally from Egypt, on violin and oud; Laura Harada on violin; Tim O'Keefe on percussion and oud; Dawn Doering on nay; Alexis Hernandez-Abreu on cello; and Nick Chbat, originally from Lebanon, on percussion. Through presenting concerts and offering educational programs, Amwaaj members share their love of the Arabic repertoire with audiences.

Dec. 12: Choral Arts Ensemble will perform in Barbara Woodward Lips Atrium, subway level, Rochester Methodist Hospital, Charlton Building, 10 Third Ave. N.W.

Led by Music Director Michael Culloton, Choral Arts Ensemble will present selections from its "Christmas at Assisi" recordings. The event will include a performance of a new carol by one of America's most respected choral musicians, Z. Randall Stroope. Traditional carols also will be sung. Choral Arts Ensemble has performed choral music for the southeastern Minnesota community for 20 years.

Dec. 19: Pianist Randall Edson, M.D., and violinist Dana Edson Myers, will give a classical music performance in Phillips Hall, Siebens Medical Education Building, first floor, 100 Second Ave. S.W.

Dr. Edson is a pianist who studied music at Yale School of Music. He also is an infectious diseases consultant at Mayo Clinic. He will be accompanied by his sister, Ms. Myers, a violinist who studied at Julliard School of Music. She is a member of the first violin section of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and a faculty member of the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Dec. 26: No Concert (Mayo Clinic holiday)

Harmony for Mayo, a music series for Mayo patients, visitors, staff and the public, is sponsored by Mayo Center for Humanities in Medicine. The series is presented in cooperation with Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester. Harmony for Mayo concerts are broadcast live on Mayo Clinic's patient/visitor channel 10. The musical series is made possible by a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Tomas Furth of Caracas, Venezuela, and New York City.
