With the return of Team 4 on Saturday, the active Minnesota mission is concluded. The mission, entitled Operation Minnesota Lifeline, is a collaboration among Mayo Clinic, University of Minnesota, American Refugee Committee and the College of St. Catherine. The teams worked under the auspices of the Louisiana Department of Health, with advisement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Team members included patient records clerks, administrative and logistic support professionals, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, primary care physicians, and physicians specializing in pediatrics, infectious diseases, obstetrics/gynecology and behavioral health.
Among their many activities in Louisiana, the teams conducted over 5,000 medical exams, wrote more than 5,800 prescriptions, dispensed over 3,000 medications, and administered more than 24,000 immunizations to more than 18,000 patients.
