ROCHESTER, Minn. — This week The New Mayo Clinic Cookbook received top honors at a national awards gala in New York City. The New Mayo Clinic Cookbook was honored as the James Beard Foundation for Best Focus on Health Cookbook. Co-medical editors for the cookbook, Donald Hensrud, M.D. and Jennifer Nelson, M.S., R.D., accepted the award for Mayo Clinic. The 2005 James Beard Foundation Awards recognize excellence and achievement in the culinary profession.
"On behalf of all the people who worked on this book and Mayo Clinic, we want to thank the James Beard Foundation for this award," Dr. Hensrud said when accepting the award. "More and more, the public is interested in the relationships between diet, nutrition and health. We hope our book has demonstrated that eating healthy and eating well are not mutually exclusive terms."
