SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Mayo Clinic Hospital has been named the number one choice of hospitals by consumers in the Phoenix metropolitan area for the sixth year in a row by the National Research Corporation (NRC). Mayo Clinic Hospital's selection for the Consumer Choice Award places it among the ranks of the top 187 hospitals nationally, out of 3,000 hospitals named by consumers in the study. The award identifies hospitals which health-care consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in 154 markets throughout the United States.
Hospitals are selected for the Consumer Choice Award based on results from the Healthcare Market Guide® Study (HCMG), an annual survey conducted by National Research Corporation (NRC), a firm that has specialized in healthcare performance measurement for over two decades.
Categories in which consumers ranked hospitals include Best Overall Quality, Best Doctors, Best Nurses, and Best Image/Reputation. The 2004 HCMG study surveyed more than 140,000 households representing more than 400,000 consumers throughout the United States.
"We are dedicated to providing the highest quality care to our patients at Mayo Clinic Hospital," says Victor F. Trastek, M.D., chair, Board of Governors, Mayo Clinic. "We are proud to receive this award for the sixth consecutive year. It is a tribute to the dedication of our entire medical, nursing and allied health staff."
