EDITORS NOTE: Leaders from Mayo Clinic, City of Scottsdale and TGen will be available for interviews and photos following the ceremony.

What: Groundbreaking ceremony for the Mayo Clinic Collaborative Research Building, a new biomedical research building on Scottsdale campus of Mayo Clinic. Ceremony is by invitation only.

When: Wednesday, February 25, 2004, 11 a.m. - Noon

Participants: Mayo Clinic, Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), City of Scottsdale and Hornaday Development

Where: Mayo Clinic, 13400 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85259

Background: Construction is due to begin soon on a new 110,000-square-foot biomedical research building on the Scottsdale campus of Mayo Clinic. The Mayo Clinic Collaborative Research Building will be financed by Hornaday Properties, a local real estate development firm. Under construction management by the Weitz Company of Phoenix, the building will house research laboratories for a new TGen initiative called the Center for Translational Drug Development (TD2), laboratory space for Mayo Clinic and shell space to accommodate other research collaborations.
