- The Scottsdale site of Mayo Clinic is located at 13400 E. Shea Blvd., in northeast Scottsdale. The specialty outpatient and diagnostic clinic was opened in 1987 as the first Mayo Clinic site in Arizona. It is located on a 180-acre parcel of land that includes the outpatient facility, the Samuel C. Johnson Medical Research Building, a Courtyard by Marriott hotel, and administrative services building.
- The Phoenix site of Mayo Clinic is a 210-acre parcel of land located at 5777 E. Mayo Blvd. in northeast Phoenix, just south of the Loop 101 Freeway. It is the present site of Mayo Clinic Hospital, a 205-bed hospital that supports the 66 medical and surgical specialties and programs of Mayo Clinic physicians.
- Construction is currently underway at the Phoenix site on a 39,000 square-foot administrative services building, an 11,350 square-foot Data Center, and a 9,000 square-foot expansion to the radiology department.
- The Master Plan for the Phoenix and Scottsdale campuses of Mayo Clinic will be implemented in five phases over a 40-year period.
- Growth will be driven by patient demand, available capital and philanthropic support to assist in covering construction costs.
- A 162,000 square-foot Hospital Based Specialty Clinic (HBSC) will be the next construction project as part of the Master Plan on the Phoenix campus. Philanthropic support and available capital will determine a construction starting date.
- The major focus of the Scottsdale campus will be to enhance research facilities and expand the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. The Samuel C. Johnson Medical Research Building on the Scottsdale campus was opened in 1993 and presently houses seven basic science researchers and their staffs. Construction to double the size of that facility is planned as part of the Master Plan.
- Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale is one of the key institutions participating in the growing biotech industry in the Phoenix area associated with TGen (Translational Genomics Research Institute) and IGC (International Genomics Consortium).
