Press Conference Will Report Significant Clinical Findings for Treatment of Breast Cancer
What: A significant advance has emerged from a large international phase III clinical trial that will expand current treatments for breast cancer and provide survivors with greater hope for long-term survival. Thousands of breast-cancer survivors from throughout the world participated in the clinical study. Because of the positive results, the study has been halted to provide information to breast-cancer survivors, their physicians and the public.
Who: James Ingle, M.D., a Mayo Clinic medical oncologist, led the research study in the United States.
The clinical study was led internationally by a Canadian researcher. In addition to Dr. Ingle, researchers from the Canadian Cancer Society, Princess Margaret Hospital (Toronto, Ontario), U.S. National Cancer Institute and the National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinic Trial Group at QueenÕs University (Kingston, Ontario) will speak at the press conference.
When: The press conference will be held Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. CDT.
