Humana's ChoiceCare Network opens access to services at Mayo Clinic

Louisville, Ky., and Rochester, Minn. — September 15, 2003 — ChoiceCare Network, the national PPO network of Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), and Mayo Clinic announced today an agreement enabling members of Humana PPO plans supported by ChoiceCare Network to use Mayo Clinic for health care services.

The agreement opens access to all inpatient, outpatient and ancillary health care services at the three Mayo Clinic sites in Rochester, Minn.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Scottsdale, Ariz.

"Mayo Clinic is widely recognized as one of the nation's premiere health care institutions," said Bruce Perkins, senior vice president of national contracting for Humana. "We are pleased to announce this relationship, which further enhances Humana's ChoiceCare Network, solidifying its standing as one of the largest nationwide PPO network offerings."

"We look forward to serving members of health plans that use the ChoiceCare Network with access to our diagnostic and treatment capabilities in every medical specialty," said Jasper Daube, M.D., medical director of managed care at Mayo Clinic. "This means patients will have access to multiple experts, at all three Mayo Clinic locations, for complex medical problems."
