What: This conference is designed to provide current information on cancer care including new and integrative modalities. Topics include nutritional interventions, spiritual care, genomics and use of radiofrequency ablation. A panel of nurses will provide insights about their passion for oncology nursing. Interesting topics include music therapy and a cancer survival story.
Who: Tami Briggs is the founding principal of Musical Reflections and a certified harp practitioner, composer and recording artist. She uses her musical experience and clinical training to address the needs of the patient, the patient's loved ones and the professional staff. She focuses on providing music for people experiencing illness, grief and loss. Briggs has recorded 11 CDs and is the author of Grace Notes, her first book. She will bring her harp to demonstrate its use in therapy. Her presentation is 10:15 to 11:30 a.m.
Cynthia Chauhan is the author of What Lies Within: A Breast Cancer Journal. She also conducts Artful Healing workshops to facilitate creative expression of deep feelings through art. Chauhan will discuss the impact of two cancer diagnoses on her life and the opportunities for growth and understanding inherent in the experiences. Her presentation is 3 to 4:15 p.m.
