Mayo Clinic Custom e-Health Package Honored with eHealthcare Leadership Gold Awards

Monday, December 29, 2003

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Mayo Clinic Custom e-Health Package, an online health management solution, received two Gold Awards from the eHealthcare Leadership Awards Program. The Gold Awards were given for Best Health/Healthcare Content and Best Site Design in the Business Improvement Site category. Sites receiving the eHealthcare Leadership Awards were selected from more than 1,200 entries.

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards program was developed and first presented in 2000. The leading supporting sponsor was eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, a leading Internet newsletter published by Health Care Communications. Other supporters have included Blausen Medical Communications, Coffey Communications, HealthVision, PhotoBooks and Professional Research Consultants.

A panel of judges evaluated the sites based on the following criteria: Best Health/Healthcare Content * How extensive, balanced and up-to-date is the information presented? * How well organized is the information? * How credible is the information? * Can material be tailored to individual needs?

Best Site Design * What are the strengths of the Web site design and the ease of navigation? * Does the site deliver strong health content, interactivity and medical-care support? * How well does the site integrate with the organization's operations?

Judges reviewed sites based on multi-point standards for Internet excellence and also looked at how sites compared with others in their classification.

"In the fourth year of this program, response was very strong," says Mark Gothberg, eHealthcare Leadership Awards chair. "One clear trend is that leading-edge health-care organizations are placing increasing focus on e-business."

The Mayo Clinic Custom e-Health Package is an online health management solution that bundles health information, interactive behavior change and condition management programs with the Mayo Clinic Health Risk Assessment and reporting tools. These tools allow organizations to track and evaluate their online programs. These online services allow organizations to better measure and manage the health of their members or employees. Organizations implementing the service receive aggregate reports on the health and health risks of their members or employees. The site is customized for each organization, including content and links to organization-specific information and health initiatives.

"The Internet is a powerful and flexible tool that companies are increasingly using to meet employee health management needs. The uses range from identifying key population health risks to delivering targeted and timely interventions that can help organizations better control health-care costs," said Philip Hagen, M.D., medical director of Mayo Clinic Health Management Resources.

In addition to the Mayo Clinic Custom e-Health Package, Mayo Clinic Health Management Resources provides organizations with books, newsletters and telephonic health management tools. For more information about these services, call 800-430-9699 or visit www.MayoClinicHMR.com.
