Speaker describes breast cancer's upside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 21, 2003 — "The Upside of Breast Cancer" is the discussion topic for the August meeting of Caring and Sharing, a free support group for breast cancer survivors at Mayo Clinic.

The speaker is Lillie Shockney, a registered nurse and director of Education and Outreach at The Johns Hopkins Breast Center in Baltimore. A breast cancer survivor, Shockney is a nationally recognized advocate, speaker and author of the book "Breast Cancer Survivor's Club — A Nurse's Experience." She also co-founded and serves as vice president of the national non-profit organization "Mothers Supporting Daughters with Breast Cancer."

The Caring and Sharing program is free and open to all. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, in Kinne Auditorium at Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Road. Call 953-0707 for information and reservations.
