Mayo Clinic Hospital begins $17 million in Construction Projects

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 7, 2002 - Mayo Clinic Scottsdale has announced $17 million in new construction projects at its Mayo Clinic Hospital site in northeast Phoenix.

A variety of expansion and construction projects are now underway at Mayo Clinic Hospital, including:

  • Hospital Bed Expansion - $4.9 million project to add 24 beds to shelled space on the fifth floor of the existing 181-bed Mayo Clinic Hospital in northeast Phoenix. Expected to open 12 beds in late 2002 and the remaining 12 beds in early 2003.
  • Transplant Center Expansion - Expansion and remodeling of existing space on the hospital's fifth floor to include five new exam rooms and two interview rooms for the Mayo Clinic Transplant Program. To be completed in late 2002. Cost figures are being finalized.
  • Radiology Expansion - A 9,000 square foot, $1.6 million expansion of the Mayo Clinic Hospital Radiology Department. Estimated completion in the third quarter, 2003.
  • Administrative Services Building - 39,000 square foot, $5.4 million building to consolidate administrative services functions. Estimated completion is third quarter, 2003.
  • Data Center - 11,350 square foot, $4.88 million Data Center. Estimated completion is third quarter of 2003.
