Neuro-infectious Diseases

A number of infections can affect the nervous system. Typically, infections by bacteria or viruses are treated by physicians with expertise in infectious diseases with the help of a neurologist. Unusual infections of the nervous system by unusual viruses or "prions" may be more difficult to diagnose and may require detailed neurological evaluation.
