Nephrology & Hypertension in Florida

Services

Experienced specialists in the Division of Nephrology can manage all complicated nephrology issues. Major areas of expertise include:

  • Chronic Kidney Disease/Dialysis

    Specially-trained nurses help manage all aspect of chronic kidney disease. Patients developing end-stage renal disease can be treated in the Outpatient Dialysis Center, which offers both in-center and at-home training for dialysis.

  • Glomerulonephritis

    Mayo specialists, along with two nephropathologists, are experienced in diagnosing and treating all types of glomerulonephritis. Clinical trials sponsored through the Mayo Clinic Collaborative Group offer those eligible new and innovative treatments for glomerular disease.

  • Hypertension

    Our physicians are experienced in evaluating and treating patients with complicated or secondary hypertension and treatment-resistant hypertension. The comprehensive hypertension lab offers ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, impedance cardiography and arterial pulse wave tonometry.

  • Nephrolithiasis (kidney stones)

    The Kidney Stone Program specializes in managing acute stone disease and evaluating the causes of stone formation. A large registry database has been developed. People have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials aimed at studying the propensity to form stones and interventions to prevent future stone formation.

  • Transplant services

    Mayo Clinic's Florida campus is home to one of the largest organ transplant programs in the Southeast. Mayo offers kidney, kidney/pancreas and pancreas transplant services. Mayo Clinic emphasizes living donor transplantation with laparoscopic donation.
