Nephrology and Hypertension

Research

Many nephrologists perform research in areas such as: the mechanisms that drive progressive renal damage; reasons for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in people with chronic kidney disease; and calcification of blood vessels in the heart. Mayo Clinic researchers are also pursuing several studies in the area of hypertension. For more on research initiatives and background information, see the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension research Web site at http://mayoresearch.mayo.edu/mayo/research/nephrology/index.cfm.

Mayo Nephrology Collaborative Group
Since 1988, the Mayo Nephrology Collaborative Group (MNCG) has developed and conducted studies aimed at improving treatment of patients with renal parenchymal diseases. The group currently consists of 83 clinical and academic nephrologists at 31 study sites in 17 states.
