Nicotine Dependence Center in Minnesota

Resources For Physicians

The Nicotine Dependence Center (NDC) is committed to supporting medical professionals in their efforts to help people end their dependence on nicotine. Prompt access is available for consultations or appointments.

Our research indicates that physician interventions are enhanced when patients are referred to our center for assistance. The one-year stop rate among patients who had been advised by their physician to stop smoking and received a consult at the Nicotine Dependence Center was 23%, compared to 10% by those who did not receive a consult.

All programs are physician supervised so that the patient's medical condition is considered in the treatment process. Treatment of nicotine dependence is coordinated with treatment of other medical problems, if necessary.

Education Programs

The NDC conducts a number of education programs for health care professionals interested in learning how to provide treatment services.
