Nicotine Dependence Center in Minnesota

Individual Counseling

One-on-One Consultation

An individual session with a counselor will help lead to an individualized treatment plan for stopping tobacco use. It is the starting point for all the other programs. Many patients are counseled individually for one or more sessions to help them develop a personal plan for new behavioral and lifestyle changes.

"I feel better, I have more money, and both my house and I smell better. I am very proud of myself for coming this far!"
- Mary Hodge

Who should do this?
Anyone can make an appointment for this session. Most patients want to stop tobacco use, though some are just interested in learning more about new methods. This consultation is offered to anyone interested in gaining more information, including those who are hospitalized as well as those who are outpatients.

Why talk with us?
Most people benefit from a personalized discussion of reasons for smoking, best methods for stopping (based on evidence from research), and information on risks of tobacco use and the benefits of quitting.
