Nicotine Dependence Center in Minnesota

Services

Mayo's Nicotine Dependence Center (NDC) provides the best-quality, evidence-based care for tobacco dependence — non-judgmentally and supportively. NDC professionals work with people to develop a plan to give them the best chance of success. When someone is ready to stop using tobacco (smoking, chew or dip), the right treatment can make it easier than you might think.

Treatment options

A proven relationship exists between the amount of intervention and intensity of treatment, and the success of an individual in quitting tobacco use. The NDC offers programs that can help those who just need a little extra push, as well as those who have almost given up — and everyone in between.

Programs are led by counselors with special training and experience in treating help people and their addictions.

Mayo's nicotine dependence programs are supervised by physician so that all aspects of the patient's condition are considered in the treatment process. Treatment of nicotine dependence is coordinated with treatment of other medical problems, when necessary.

Not ready to quit?

You can still benefit from a visit with a Nicotine Dependence Center counselor. You can learn more about why stopping tobacco can be difficult and you can develop a plan so that you can succeed — when you are ready.
