When abnormal cells develop in the nasal and paranasal tissue, tumors can grow. The tumors may be malignant (cancerous) or benign (noncancerous). Physicians define the paranasal sinuses as the small hollow spaces around the nose. The tumor may cause minimal symptoms until it spreads outside the sinuses into the surrounding nose, orbit, or brain. Treatment is designed to completely remove the tumor and restore the patient's function and appearance as much as possible.
