Narcolepsy

Cataplexy

Cataplexy is a sudden loss of voluntary muscle control and a hallmark symptom of narcolepsy .

It's usually triggered by emotions such as laughter, surprise, fear or anger and it occurs more often when the patient is under stress.

Mayo Clinic has developed an interactive display using virtual reality to safely induce cataplexy in the clinical setting and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Read more.
