Effect of Septal Closure of Atrial PFO on Events of Migraine with Premere Device
Patent foramen ovale (PFO), a persistent flap-like opening in the atrial septum that allows blood to communicate between the right and left atria, is more prevalent in patients with migraine. It is hypothesized that patients with frequent migraine headaches, who also have a PFO with a right to left shunt, will have a reduction in both the intensity and frequency of migraine attacks if the PFO is closed.

PREMIUM Migraine Trial
This study is being done to compare the effects (good or bad)of the AMPLATZER PFO Occluder device in reducing further episodes of migraine in patients who have a PFO (an opening in the heart called a patent foramen ovale) with a large degree of abnormal blood flow from the right to the left chamber of the heart, to medical therapy.
