Metachromatic Leukodystrophy

Treatment in Minnesota

All diagnosis and treatment options for metachromatic leukodystrophy described in these pages are available at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, with the exception of bone marrow transplantation for this disease. In addition, Mayo Clinic patients have access to clinical trials for various medications and treatments.

Treatment Team

The medical team for patients with MLD is led by highly trained experts in the Department of Neurology. The neurologists provide specialized services to evaluate and treat disorders of the brain, nerves and muscles, including metachromatic leukodystrophy. Other medical specialists may be involved in caring for patients with MLD and supporting their families, including:
