Micrograph stained for myelin showing remyelination in the spinal cord of a mouse

rHIgM22, a recombinant form of the human immunoglobulin molecule HIgM22, promotes new myelin in the spinal cord. A light micrograph stained for myelin shows remyelination in the spinal cord of a mouse with virus-mediated demyelination. Repair is promoted by a single peripheral dose of rHIgM22, which binds to myelin and oligodendrocytes. Remyelination, characterized by thin myelin sheaths in relation to axon diameter, is present out to the edge of a ventral lateral lesion.
