Ex vivo anterior segment human culture model

Schematic of an ex vivo anterior segment human eye culture model

Briefly, the human eye is bisected at the equator. The anterior portion of the eye minus the lens, iris, and aqueous humor is clamped into a modified Petri dish. Media is perfused into the anterior chamber at the normal human flow rate of 2.5 μL/min. The only exit for fluid is through the trabecular outflow pathway. Pressure is monitored in real time.
