Echocardiographic evaluation of mice

Echocardiographic approaches are used to routinely evaluate aortic valve function in mice with valve disease. The left panel depicts a hypercholesterolemic mouse with normal antioxidant enzyme expression (peak velocity about 2.7 m/s), whereas the right panel depicts a hypercholesterolemic mouse with reduced mitochondrial antioxidant gene expression (peak velocity about 4.5 m/s).
