Figure 1. Elements of the hybrid procedure for HLHS. A stent is placed in the PDA via a delivery sheath that enters the PA through a purse-string suture. Once ductal patency is established, the surgeon places a band on each PA. If needed, a stent may also be placed in the foramen ovale to ensure egress of flow from the left atrium.
