Every effort is made to minimize hospital time. Most diagnosis and treatment can be done on an outpatient basis. When patients require hospitalization, they are admitted to Mayo Clinic hospital, a 214-bed hospital on the Mayo Clinic campus.
Should a patient require emergency hospitalization, we will make arrangements with Mayo Clinic hospital. Hospital policy requires you to call Mayo Clinic before the patient's arrival for direct hospital admission. For emergency hospital admissions, call (904) 953-2000 anytime, day or night.
It is the practice of our physicians to forward a summary of diagnostic reports and treatments to the referring physician as soon as it becomes available. If you have not been contacted by your patient's Mayo Clinic physician, please call our Referring Physician's Service, (800) 634-1417, for assistance.
Each Mayo Clinic patient in Florida receives a registration number, which should be used for all clinic communication. We suggest that referring physicians keep a record of their patients' Mayo Clinic registration numbers for easy reference in future consultation. If a patient has previously been seen at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota or Arizona, the original patient registration number should be used.
